DeskCycle 2 versus Original DeskCycle Under Desk Bike, Comparison Review

The DeskCycle 2 and Original DeskCycle are a great way to keep fit and burn calories while you work at your desk or even simply whilst sitting in an armchair reading or watching TV.  No more having to find precious time to exercise separately!

The DeskCycles have one of the lowest pedal heights on the market, giving you more leg clearance space under your desk.  The newer DeskCycle 2 is the first to provide an adjustable pedal height of between 9 and 10” while the Original DeskCycle has a fixed low pedal height of 10”.

The extra lower pedal height on the DeskCycle 2 allows for users up to 5ft 10” tall to work at a desk as low as 27”.  The Original DeskCycle can be used at a 27” desk for people up to 5ft 8” tall.

Both the DeskCycle 2 and Original DeskCycle Under Desk Bikes are durably designed with a drive system that operates super smoothly and quietly so it won’t disturb your co-workers or disrupt those all important phone calls etc.

The DeskCycles’ drive system combines a high-inertia 3 lb flywheel that provides an effective flywheel weight of 39 lbs of resistance (flywheel rotates at 13 times the speed of the crankshaft) with a twin belt drive system and magnetic resistance.

The DeskCycles offer 8 calibrated resistance levels via an easy-to-adjust turn-knob and both the DeskCycle 2 and Original come with a removable LCD monitor (battery operated) that can be left on the bike or placed on your desk (via a cable and stand) so you can see your workout data as you pedal including: Time, Speed, RPM, Calories and Scan.

The DeskCycle 2 comes with a slightly larger LCD monitor and can track up to 10,000 minutes of activity before it needs to be reset, whereas the Original DeskCycle only tracks up to 1,000 minutes before needing to be reset.

DeskCycle now provide an App (available on the App Store) for your desktop, Android or Apple device with which you can also keep track of your activity, set goals and view progress (manual input required) and the DeskCycle is now compatible with FitBit and Apple Watch (optional Bluetooth accessory available separately).

For user comfort and safety, the DeskCycle features large stay-flat pedals with adjustable Velcro foot straps.  The pedals offer bi-directional motion so you can choose to pedal in a forward or backward motion to work different muscle groups.

Both the DeskCycle 2 and Original DeskCycle Under Desk Bike Pedal Exercisers are sturdily built and constructed with quality components.  They feature sealed bearings and steel components for maintenance-free pedaling and are constructed with a wide 20” front leg to prevent rocking.

Both units also feature anti-slip rubber feet and have a Kensington security slot on the front of the machine allowing you to secure your DeskCycle to one of your desk legs with a Kensington laptop lock (available separately).

The DeskCycle itself weighs around 24 lbs and has a footprint of 24” long x 20” wide.  This pedal exerciser is designed to be used sitting in a chair and will support a user weight capacity of up to 350 lbs (NOT suitable for standing use).

Burn calories and improve your health while you work at your desk with the DeskCycle Desk Exercise Bike Pedal Exerciser.

The DeskCycle is designed for use specifically in the work environment.  Unlike many other desk bikes which use noisy friction resistance, the DeskCycle features a 39 lb flywheel and smooth magnetic resistance system that ensures quiet operation so you won’t disturb your co-workers or distract yourself while you’re on a phone call!

The DeskCycle also has a lower profile than many other desk bikes with the pedals sitting at 10” at their highest point.  The pedals on the DeskCycle have been designed to sit 5” lower than the MagneTrainer for example so that it fits better under desks, giving you more clearance to pedal without knocking your knees on the desk – ideal for taller people or those with a lower desk top height.

The DeskCycle Desk Exercise Bike offers bi-directional motion so you can pedal in either forward or reverse motion to work more muscle groups, and there are 8 calibrated resistance levels so you change the intensity of your workout up or down from very easy to high (the highest setting is said to be twice as high as the highest setting on the MagneCycle).  The resistance is easy to change via a simple turn dial knob.

The DeskCycle comes with a 5-function LCD display unit that can be left on the bike or placed on your desk with an optional display stand (available separately) so you can see your workout stats at a glance.  Motivating stats displayed include time, speed, distance, calories and scan.  The LCD display utilizes 2x AA batteries.

The DeskCycle features large pedals with adjustable Velcro straps for comfort and safety.  The DeskCycle is sturdily built with quality components and features a wide 20” front leg that prevents rocking for a stable workout.  The DeskCycle has anti-slip rubber feet and comes with Velcro strap to attach it to your chair to prevent sliding.
